By Oliver Tennant Do meal plans work? Absolutely. At least in the short term, the very short term. Why would you bother investing all your time and effort into learning about nutrition, why and how you should be feeding your body, counting and tracking macros when you can simply hire a coach to give you meal plan after meal plan? Meal plans are very appealing. I have had countless people come to me throughout the years and ask me to provide them with a meal plan to help them achieve their goals. The major reason why I don’t believe in meals plans – other than the obvious restrictions of said plans – is it completely leaves people with no room to think for themselves. Blindly following a set meal plan in the short term is certainly achievable – mind-numbingly boring, but achievable. However, how sustainable is eating the same thing every single day? If you’re content with having no dietary freedom then by all means stick to a meal plan. Alternatively, if you’d rather become the master of your own nutrition, learn about what and why you’re feeding your body particular foods, eating the foods you love whilst still seeing ongoing dietary success, then explore the world of flexible dieting. I firmly believe in putting the power into your hands and teaching you how to handle your nutrition and how to sustain it in the long run. I teach you how to eat, rather than just telling you what to eat. Self sustainability is key for longevity. For those that are consumed by instant gratification, looking for an easy quick fix and can’t see the bigger picture, a meal plan would suit you down to the ground. I, however, strongly advise you take a step back and think about where you want to be in a years time. You want to make changes to your nutrition that will last a lifetime, don’t you? Sure, tracking and monitoring your macros does require more immediate work, as it is a learning curve, but I assure you that it will be worth your while. After all, an investment in yourself is the best investment you will ever make. *If you are interested in achieving your dream body whilst enjoying your training and only eating the foods you love, contact me HERE and send me a message!
