Recently I was told a story by a new (frustrated) client who was told by her previous, shall we say guru 'trainer' to cut out all processed food and sugars if she wanted to lose weight.
I'll show you and in this article, I'll share with you the foods you CAN eat when losing weight, and why the more rules you set for yourself, the more likely you are to fail.
Like literally, in their words - "Do NOT eat these foods"
And that pi55es me off.
Firstly, because it's terrible advice.
(Ironically she didn't get results, was frustrated and was made to feel like a failure).
Secondly, the more somebody tells you NOT to do (or think about) something, or suggests you shouldn’t, the more you do it right?
A little while back I sent an email to our clients about a pink elephant.
I told them NOT to think about that pink elephant.
AVOID that pink elephant like the plague.
Lemme guess what you’re thinking about now….
The above story is one of MANY I hear about on a daily basis.
With that said, it actually fires me up to prove to these terrible 'guru-trainers' what can be accomplished whilst STILL eating so called 'junk food'.
Because it's definitely possible.

Here's another crazy story...the other day my friend sent me a screenshot of what his gym had them all eating.
I nearly cried.
“Do NOT eat carbs after 4pm”
“Do NOT consume sugary/processed foods”.
“Do NOT drink alcohol”.
“You MUST weigh all your foods”.
“You MUST only consume these 5 foods as your sources of carbohydrates”.
Holy shyte I thought….
What kind of a dictatorial regime is this gym operating?
The more rules you set for yourself, the more obstacles you are putting in your own way and the harder
you make it to even start, let alone stick to a plan.
Instead of focussing on what you can’t eat (or do), focus on the things you CAN (and yes, there are plenty).
Some exercise is better than none and you can pick whatever exercise you like that you enjoy and makes you feel good - you do not have to become a slave to a gym.
Everyone is different and so every weight loss and fitness plan should be different, which is why our approach is not a one size fits all approach.
So remember this:
One good meal won’t make you skinny just like one bad meal won’t make you fat. Your results are the
cumulative effect of dietary choices and moving your body over time, NOT over night.
So the moral of the story is this:
Stop focussing on the 'do not’s' and instead, find what you can do and all of a sudden, you will find so many ways to eat well and exercise in a way that fits into your life.
