There’s nothing more frustrating than not making any progress if you're trying to lose weight or get fitter. 

Especially when you’re putting in all the effort to make a change and then not feeling any or seeing any visible change.

​In this article I'll share with you 3 simple reasons why you're not making any progress and how to fix it. 

3 SIMPLE REASONS YOU’RE NOT MAKING ANY PROGRESS (AND HOW TO FIX IT)

You feel like you’re treading water and it's all a waste of time.

It’s seriously the worst. 

I’ve been there. 

Many times over. 

Do you know this feeling?

Guess what -

You’re not alone. 

You see,

Progress can come in all shapes and forms. 

Progress for me probably isn’t progress for you and vice versa. 

But if you’re not making any progress at ALL?

Something needs to change. 

There’s no point putting in all that effort if you’re not seeing a reward for it. 

So, my dear friend, I’m here to help pull you out when times get a little shitty - it's what a good PT can and will do…..

Here are 3 simple reasons you’re not making any progress (and how to fix them):
  1. You don’t track anything.

    This could be anything from food, to training, to your daily habits to your mood.

    What gets measured, gets managed.  When you track even just ONE of said factors, you know what to tweak and why.  You have feedback.

    You KNOW when things are working, and when they’re not.

    It goes both ways too - if you think you’re off track because your measurements haven’t changed, but your overall mood has improved, then you’re STILL making progress.  If you didn’t track this, how would you know?
     
  2. You’re not honest with yourself.

    Now look - I’ll be first to admit I catch myself playing the blame game from time to time but seriously, playing the victim card will get you nowhere.

    If you want to make real, long lasting change?

    You MUST take responsibility.  You MUST be honest with yourself and you MUST take ownership of your current situation.  This is a HARD thing to do.

    It’s never easy to be honest with yourself because it hurts.

    The moment you’re honest with yourself and ditch the excuses, is the moment your progress skyrockets - trust me.
     
  3. You don’t have a goal.

    If you don’t have a destination, how do you know where you’re going? Or more to the point - how will you know when you’ve arrived?

    If you don’t have a target or a goal, you’re going to be sat still and not going anywhere or it will certainly appear that way.

    Goal setting might make you roll your eyes.

    Yes it can feel tedious and time consuming but answer me this question:

    Is it more painful taking the time to set some goals or to put in a boat load of effort and not understanding why you aren’t seeing results?

    I’ve done both and believe me, the former is a better option.

    Take the time to write your goals down and figure out what it is that you want to achieve.

    If you’re unsure? Start with this question - What is your number one health and fitness priority right now and why?. Start with that and see what comes up for you.

There you go - nothing ground-breaking, nothing too difficult or requiring tech skills sooooo there’s no excuse not to give it a go.
