25 Life Lessons I Learnt By The Age of 25

I'll be honest, I used a picture of me with our studio Labrador, Lilly for clickbait.  That, and she's super cute.

​Look, I may not have all the answers but I've been fortunate enough to make many mistakes over the years.  As a result, I've become pretty wise for my age.

​This list will make you laugh, smile, frown and maybe cry if that's your thing? Either way, here are 25 life lessons I learnt by the age of 25.
Not only have I been fortunate enough to make mistakes, I've also been mentored by some pretty special people in my life.  That is, people that have made more mistakes than I, and walked a little further in their shoes.

I've also read quite a few books, listened to hours of podcasts and aggressively applied what I learnt.  My current success is a result of failing over and over again.  

So cliche right? But it's true.

This list will never be finished, merely added to.  Incase you're wondering, I'm 25 years of age at the point of writing this and look forward to what the next quarter of a century will throw my way. 

You ready? Here are 25 life lessons I learnt by the age of 25.


25 Life Lessons I Learnt By The Age of 25

  1. There are too many arseholes in this world, so don’t be one of them.
  2. You will always have problems in your life, they never go away, so choose to have good problems.
  3. Having a six pack isn’t what you think it is.  Being at a super low percentage of body fat doesn’t make you any better than any one else. In fact, more often than not, you just become an irritable wanker. 
  4. People will come and go in your life and people will screw you over, but the gym will always be there for you time after time. 
  5. Running a business will drain you of all your energy, time and more often than not, your bank account.  If you’re going to start a business, do it for the right reasons.
  6. If you become a personal trainer with the sole aim of making money, you might as well leave the industry now.
  7. Using your ears is one of the most powerful tools at your disposal, providing you use them correctly. 
  8. Every one has their own problems, the world doesn’t revolve around yours. 
  9. There will always be someone out there better than you.  Don’t hate on them, learn from them.  Successful people are successful for a reason.
  10. Peanut butter and honey on rice cakes is one of the most amazing snacks ever - end of conversation.
  11. One does not simply stop at one teaspoon of Nutella.
  12. Life is all about perceptions. You can have two people looking at the exact same situation but see two completely different scenarios.  More often than not, neither person is wrong.
  13. If you try and please every body, you end up pleasing nobody 
  14. The following 4 books should be studied at High School - The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, How To Win Friends and Influence People, Rich Dad Poor Dad and The Subtle Art of Not Giving A Fuck
  15. If you arrive at a roundabout and turn left without indicating, please tell me which cereal box you got your licence out of.
  16. Magic formulas and pills to success don’t exist but if you happen to find one, let me know.
  17. One healthy meal won’t make you skinny just like one bad meal won’t make you fat.  In fact, there are no such thing as good and bad foods providing you use them correctly.
  18. If you’re feeling tired, sluggish and overweight, you don’t need to detox, you need to simply lift weights. 
  19. If you’re feeling sad, lonely and depressed, you don’t need alcohol, you need to simply lift weights.
  20. To be honest with you, most of life’s problems can be solved by simply lifting weights.
  21. Your brain will always think of an awesome comeback to an argument, 4 hours after the argument took place.
  22. Sometimes you just need to admit you were wrong, suck up your ego and move on.
  23. Some of the best business ideas come from an alcohol fuelled evening.
  24. Some of life’s worst consequences come from an alcohol fuelled evening.
  25. If it were easy, everyone would do it.

​The point of this list is to give you not only a bit of humour, but also shine a light on areas of your life that may need improvement.  

Maybe you've just discovered a new snack? Maybe you've realised all you need to is simply lift weights or maybe you're the one who never indicates at roundabouts? Either way, I hope this list made you smile.
